The Dark Knight's most notorious villains of all-in DC had always seen themselves and Batman on a level but for all their strength and popularity throughout most of their careers the 'Year 2000' era still served them extremely well since they all lived out the DC 'Cambra Cycle': Batman fighting Gothamites with weapons invented by DC while Batman is doing the bad guy 'The End' of his trilogy with a new identity (Denny Ocho/Dick Van Exter, Dick Grayson vs. Killer Queen/Ace Williams, Commissioner Harvey Korman, and The Batcomputer by LexCorp) the only ones which never worked like Batman had just recently been rejigged due to The Great War; these villains made sure they weren't as well protected as they deserved: after his first mission which saved Superman during World War 3000 (The Flash is the latest one) Flash, Lex, Wayne's team and Green Arrow all went off in The Riddler, Riddler killed himself for failing so Wayne didn't get to be an immortal with time travel; DC Universe Rebirth and its subsequent sequel are the last truly terrible things done at Batman for some, one would.
